Mind – Access to Psychological / Talking Therapies Survey

If you’ve accessed psychological therapies or talking therapies, we would like to hear of your experiences.

Access to psychological therapies (also called ‘talking therapies’ or ‘talking treatments’) is still patchy, with people in some areas still waiting months or even years to access treatment and a limited choice of therapies available. The next election for the National Assembly for Wales will take place on 5 May 2016. Here in Wales, the National Assembly is responsible for health – not the Westminster Parliament or MPs – so we need to make sure that whoever forms the next Welsh Government makes mental health a priority.  As part of our own manifesto for 2016, we’re calling on the next Welsh Government for mandate the NHS in Wales to offer a full range of evidence-based psychological therapies to all who need them within 28 days of requesting a referral.

We want to hear about your experiences of psychological therapies so we can help to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has the right kind of support available, no matter where in Wales you live. We want to know how long you had to wait to get treatment, the choice of therapies available to you and what it was like trying to access treatment. We also want to hear about the experiences of Welsh speakers and whether you were offered treatment through the language of your choice. We need your help to make a strong case to the next Welsh Government about what needs to improve to make sure everyone can access the right treatment at the right time.
